Button - so simple thing

We use some things every day and do not think about it. For example, a button. We have got them everywhere, we open-close them often, we do not remember them. It's a part of our life. But one button can change your cloth and your look completely.

See some buttons I've found in Etsy shop called "Visart"

Shabby roses

Do you remember the work with napkin I disliked? The history seems to be repeated.
There was a friend of mine who bought these napkins at this time. She loved it in the store but me not at all. When we became home she tried to decorate a bottle with it and totally dissapointed.

When I was leaving her we exchanged napkins as usually. I didn't want to take a napkin we had finally disliked both. My friend said me "Take it just to have it" and I laught.

Finally this napkin become four shabby chic pictures.

Glass Plate "Greece"

I really like to decorate glass plates with decoupage tecnique. The result is like porcelain with more shining. But they are very difficult in online trading. Customers are afraid of their fragility. How do you handle this problem?

Which decoupage glue do you use?

Since I decorate objects with napkin technique I use a white glue for crafts or Art Potch by HobbyLine. Basicly you can use a lot of glues or... varnishes. I know artisans who use acrilyc varnish as glue for decoupage technique.

But I see a lot of mentions about Mod Podge glue. Is it good? Does it have something special?

How the clock has been sold

I live in the city, about 1 million citizens. I varnish my decoupaged objects at my balcony.

First I try to collect 3-5 objects and then varnish them. The reason is a small quantity of varnish dries fast and I don't want to let the rest in the small bottle I use for varnishing for a long time.

So, how it looks like. My balcony gets a look of art gallery. Neighbours stare - greeks have such a habit.

One of these days my neighbour from the left side started to ask accurately about my "frosted roses" clock. Just I told her I sell it she asked for the price and took it.

Oh, It is a pity I live at the so high floor. I could sell more by this way

I love classic and old things as many other people. These things touch our souls. But usually I create object in modern style. I don't know why. This time I was really decided to create something looks old.

I trained to create shabby objects but it's not enough. It have to looks completely old with its images and colors.

Decoupage for beginners: step by step

I'm getting many request to explain how to decoupage. The following step-by-step tutorial explains how to create something beautiful...even if you have 2 left hands.

We need: a napkin, a wooden spatchula, a decoupage glue or simple white glue for handworks, varnish for wood.

1. Cut a part of napkin which can cover the spatchula's handle. Every napkin usually have 3 layers - remove white bottom layers.

2. Put the napkin to the handle. Pour enough glue on the center of handle and distribute the glue with the finger or brush. I advise the finger for beginners to feel folds created by wet napkin. You have to level the napkin. It's better to begin from the midle to ends. If the napkin is pasted at your finger, pour more glue.

3. Don't forget to distribute the glue on the lateral sides. But try to not put the clue on the back side. When the spatchula has dried, sand it on the back side cautiously to delete the rest of napkin.

4. Repeat the steps 2 and 3 for the back side. When the spatchula dried well, wet a bit the rest of napkin on the lateral sides and cut it with hand. Then put some glue to the ends of napkin to finish the work.

5. Dry well. Varnish the napkin 2-3 times. That's it!!!

You can see more classes at my DIY decoupage blog. Welcome!
