Decoupage for beginners: step by step

I'm getting many request to explain how to decoupage. The following step-by-step tutorial explains how to create something beautiful...even if you have 2 left hands.

We need: a napkin, a wooden spatchula, a decoupage glue or simple white glue for handworks, varnish for wood.

1. Cut a part of napkin which can cover the spatchula's handle. Every napkin usually have 3 layers - remove white bottom layers.

2. Put the napkin to the handle. Pour enough glue on the center of handle and distribute the glue with the finger or brush. I advise the finger for beginners to feel folds created by wet napkin. You have to level the napkin. It's better to begin from the midle to ends. If the napkin is pasted at your finger, pour more glue.

3. Don't forget to distribute the glue on the lateral sides. But try to not put the clue on the back side. When the spatchula has dried, sand it on the back side cautiously to delete the rest of napkin.

4. Repeat the steps 2 and 3 for the back side. When the spatchula dried well, wet a bit the rest of napkin on the lateral sides and cut it with hand. Then put some glue to the ends of napkin to finish the work.

5. Dry well. Varnish the napkin 2-3 times. That's it!!!
